Parasite Cleansing and my expereince

I hope you’re coming to this blog post with an open mind because I know this topic can be a little unsettling or uncomfortable especially if it’s the first time you’re reading about parasites! A year ago, if you told me I was going to be doing a parasite cleanse I would have laughed and thought you were honestly crazy. I was always under the impression that parasites were rare and that you’d know for sure if you had them. Does anyone else feel the same way? I was wrong and that’s the beauty of being open-minded, flexible, and willing to learn on your health journey. I have been struggling with toxic burdens and overload from several sources. The main source was from the amalgam (mercury) fillings I had and once they were removed it was time to start heavy metal detoxing, the first step was, you guessed it, a parasite cleanse.

I should start by saying that a parasite cleanse is not for everyone and it’s best to work with a practitioner before jumping into one unsafely. Detoxing, especially parasites, is a serious matter and if done incorrectly you can certainly harm yourself. This blog does not serve as medical advice, solely information and education gained from my personal experience.

If you’re in tune with your body, incorporate consistent health habits, nourish your body regularly, and know how to open your detox pathways then perhaps a parasite cleanse could be extremely beneficial for you. We often hear about doing a cleanse or detox but don’t realize how much stress this can put on your body if done incorrectly. Opening your detox pathways is the most important part of the parasite cleanse because you will not effectively eliminate the toxins and can have a toxin build-up. Any type of cleansing or detox should be taken seriously and prepared in advance!

How do we even get parasites, and what are the symptoms?

You know, I believed my standard primary care doctor a few years ago when she said, “people in America don’t get parasites because we have clean water” which I now know is completely wrong. You can get parasites from many sources such as international travel, public restrooms, swimming in a lake, eating sushi, eating insufficiently cooked meat, unwashed fruits and vegetables, pets, litter boxes, handling dirty diapers, public saunas, and other contaminated public spaces. In my opinion, parasite cleansing should be standard practice for every single person once or twice a year!! Could you have a parasite based on knowing the common sources?

Remember that most parasites are microscopic but can grow and live within your body while stealing your nutrient. I will say some of them are definitely not microscopic when you’re eliminating them! Before learning more about parasites I originally thought that if you had a parasite you would know or have specific symptoms but I didn’t realize the symptoms most of us deal with regularly could actually be from having parasites!

Symptoms may include nutritional deficiencies found through lab work (B12, zinc, iron, vitamin A), anemia, rectal itching, gas, bloating, nausea, weight loss, food sensitivities, fatigue, teeth grinding, acne, anxiety, headaches, chronic pain, rashes, and autoimmune diseases or high inflammation markers.

Parasites release toxins, histamine, and waste byproduct that can overwhelm the liver. This creates a more toxic environment in the body which is also ideal for parasites to survive! Since I was experiencing a lot of liver burden (you can read about that here) once I removed the heavy metal fillings in my mouth, it was time to support my liver by killing off any parasites that were also contributing to my liver burden. It’s best to ask your doctor to do lab work to discover if you have any indicators of parasitic invasion but they’re extremely difficult to detect! I recommend finding a functional medicine doctor or a naturopathic doctor that will listen to your concerns and support you, recognizing that it’s a team effort!

I just finished a five-day intermediate protocol with the full moon. Nature is incredible and I’m always amazed daily. You should do a parasite cleanse with the full moon because they’re more active and reproduce during this phase of the moon cycle. During the full moon, we naturally produce less melatonin and more serotonin which parasites love because they thrive off of our serotonin.

What do you use to get rid of parasites?

As I mentioned before this is not medical advice and you should always work with a provider when cleansing or detoxing. I used CellCore and followed their full mood protocol but within these supplements are natural herbs that are not only antiparasitic but support the gut and liver at the same time. Some of the ingredients in the supplements include mimosa pudica seed, sage leaf, tansy herb, thyme leaf, black walnut, holy basil leaf, and clove bud.

If you’re not ready to do a full-blown parasite cleanse you can also incorporate antiparasitic foods into your diet to rid them naturally. Those are papaya seeds, pumpkin seeds, raw honey, raw garlic, ginger, and apple cider vinegar.

My Results

This is my second parasite cleanse and this time around I took opening my detox pathways to the next level. I was taking supportive supplements like TUDCA, magnesium, Organic Olivia Liver Juice, went to the sauna daily, stayed hydrated, incorporated herbal dandelion root tea, moved my lymphatic system, and spent time in the sunshine. The first day I felt great but then eventually felt like I got hit by a bus. I also got my period on day two of the cleanse so my body was working on and processing a ton at once. It’s normal and common not to feel your best during a detox. For some reason, we have this huge misconception that when you’re detoxing you’re supposed to feel incredible which may happen on occasion but is usually false. I listened to my body and plopped myself on the couch to rest and relax during those times, allowing my body to do its thing while I offered it as much support as possible. It is common to feel this way because of something called “die-off” symptoms or otherwise known as herx reaction, when the parasites are killed they release toxins that cause inflammation, and your system reacts. This could feel like a headache, flu symptoms, joint pain, nausea, bloating, and digestive discomfort. Did I pass parasites? Yes, yes I did and although it’s so disgusting I’d much rather have them out than in! Now that I am done with the cleanse I am continuing to support my liver and my detox pathways, eating nourishing foods, and being mindful of my healthy habits. I’ve noticed increased energy, improved mood, and way less digestive sensitivities. Mind you I am only on day three after finishing so I expect to discover more results as time goes on.

Everyone could benefit from incorporating a parasite cleanse annually as you now know parasites are much more common than you think or than we are lead to believe.
