Have yourself a Healthy, Holistic Holiday
The holiday can bring on a lot of emotions, stress, sugar, and alcohol which takes a toll on your physical and mental health. Don’t forget to take care of yourself this holiday season and incorporate holistic habits to prevent the biggest mistakes that I see.
Top Holistic Habits for the Holidays:
Don’t skip meals! Even if you’re having a big holiday party later in the afternoon, eating a balanced breakfast is important! I know it’s common to think that you’re “saving” calories but in reality, you’re sending your hormones, blood sugar, and cravings, on a roller coaster!
Implement a daily mindful moment. Whether that is for journaling, meditating, or a breathwork practice it’s important to connect with yourself and the present moment to decrease stress and align with your intentions.
Intentional movement is a must! You don’t have to do a full-blown exercise program but moving your body does so much for your mental and emotional health. Go for a long walk, sign up for a class, do an at-home yoga practice, or stretch. Get your body moving so you don’t end the holiday season feeling extremely “blah”.
Enjoy the sweets and a cocktail if that’s your thing but implement some support habits while doing so! It can be easy to overindulge in sugar and alcohol and then feel major guilt afterward. When you’re intentional about fueling your body and incorporating these habits you’re setting yourself up to feel great! Make sure you’re eating before consuming alcohol, have some ACV before your dessert to balance blood sugar, and enjoy both without distractions
Set boundaries to be able to show up as your best self. This could look like setting boundaries with friends and family but it can also be with alcohol and events! When will your answer be “no” when it comes to gatherings? How many drinks are you willing to have? What conversations are you not willing to indulge in? Setting boundaries isn’t mean or selfish!
So what do you think? Are you going to get through this holiday season feeling empowered?!
